Carla Escobar RN, BSN began her nursing career at UMC in 2001. She has expertise in critical care with an emphasis in neuroscience. As the Stroke Coordinator, she monitors each stroke patient through out their hospital stay ensuring the medical center meets the primary stroke center’s standards of care. UMC is dedicated to improving patient outcomes, which is why as our Stroke Care Coordinator; Carla follows proper procedures when it comes to stroke treatments such as medications or rehab. She makes sure these treatments are initiated in a timely manner. Also, she is the Chair of the regional stroke subcommittee with the Border Regional Advisory Committee in El Paso. This group works with the entire community’s medical personnel to improve the care stroke patients receive, and also educating the community on the signs and symptoms of stroke and what to do when they recognize them.
