University Medical Center is once again bringing a higher level of care to the El Paso community and sorrounding region. The Medical Center has invested in state-of-the-art technology, recruited skilled nurses and partnered with Board-Certified physician experts to create the region’s most advanced gastroenterology facility in El Paso.

The experience of our highly skilled team is unmatched in the region and has quickly become a regional referral center for Gastroenterologists across West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

In addition to traditional procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies, the center features advanced care that is only available at UMC. These advanced procedures allow the specialized team to quickly and accurately diagnose and treat digestive illnesses such as Barrett’s Esophagus, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Crohn’s disease, gallstones and ulcers.

New procedures done exclusively at the center:
  • Esophageal Ablation Therapy using Halo
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
    - Using Fine Needle Aspiration
    - Guided cancer staging in the gastrointestinal tract
    - Assisted Biliary Intervention
  • Celiac Plexus, Neurolysis and Block
  • Pancreatic Pseudocyst Drainage
  • Single-Balloon Enteroscopy

Open Access Referral Program

Convenient Access
Referring physicians can schedule endoscopic procedures for medically stable patients without a need for a prior consultation.

Prompt Follow-up
After a patient is seen at the center the reports and procedure results will be sent to the referring physician along with the team's recommendations.

Consultation
Patients referred to the center under the Open Access Referral Program continue their care under their referring physician. The center's team is available to the referring physician for consultation before and after the patients is seen at the center.
